I live in Scotland on the east coast by the north sea...what drew me to study yoga at Yogasthali?! From the beginning I knew I wanted to study in India, the birthplace of hath yoga and also to remove myself from the western mindset that yoga is becoming….I was looking for a small established yoga centre that was working as part of a community (rather than just offering teacher training). I was lucky enough to find this yogasthali yoga society and so much more when I first arrived at Yogasthali. The Yogathali Yoga Society is a thriving community based project offering a variety of classes and courses to people who live in Jaipur. It is run by yogi Umesh and yogini Hemlata - and I do not hesitate when I call them two shining lights of human beings. They run a very full timetable of daily classes as well as the teacher training programme. They pour energy, love, committment and belief into each of their students.
Yogi Umesh and Yogini Hemlata Sharma are profoundly committed to Hatha Yoga, their teaching and living a yogic way of life - and it is this close up and personal experience of learning and working with them that informs all aspects of this enriching experience.
